Mangalgiri Sarees

Mangalagiri Sarees and fabrics are produced by hand weaving in Mangalagiri, a town in Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh. It is a GI tagged product from the region and is produced by weaving with the help of pitlooms from combed yarn by warp and woof interlacing. The fabric then undergoes the process of dyeing.The Nizam border design is a unique characteristic of the fabric. The occupation of weaving in thus region is as old as 400 years as per some inscriptions found at this region. The Mangalgiri weaving cluster weave sarees and fabrics in cotton (60 to 100 Thread count) , cotton silk and pure silk.

The unique characteristics of Mangalgiri sarees of being super soft and easy to drape make them a very endearing weave.
